A communications cable designed for underwater deployment up to depths of several thousand feet to provide intercontinental connectivity. The physical structure is usually composed of a lead-covered cable with steel armor applied between layers of jute.

What are Manhattan Bypass (MBP) fiber routes?

These fiber routes circumnavigate congested paths in Manhattan, NY, adding a layer of diversity and redundancy. In the past, all submarine cable systems terminated directly in Manhattan, however now many of these systems land at 1025Connect in Long Island, enabling them to circumnavigate Manhattan via the MBP fiber routes.

There are currently five MBP fiber routes available from 1025Connect:

A cross-connect is a physical connection linking two pieces of networking equipment. Made from either copper or fiber, a cross-connect typically runs between a carrier router and a customer router.

How much does 1025Connect charge for cross-connects?

ZERO! We do not charge customers for interconnection. After paying an affordable one-time setup fee, customers are not subject to Monthly Recurring Charges (MRCs) for cross-connects.

There are four conduits from Bond Street, two from man holes, two aerials on State Street and one entrance on Old Country Road.

What happens if there is a hurricane and are you in a flood zone?

If you open the flood zone map link below, you will note that 1025Connect is located well outside out of the 100-year flood zone. What’s more, our building is designed to withstand winds up to 150 MPH and was built further away from the water than any carrier hotel or data center in Manhattan.
